Brrrr! The big conversation started last week as the temperatures dropped. By Saturday, when my mother, Sonja Behnke Festerling, spent the morning with me and we were BOTH cold, my husband turned on the heat. Actually, he wanted to take the chill off the night before. By the time you read this, I understand that the temperatures will be back up in the ’80s, but a touch of Fall is in the air.
I have mentioned before that my husband and I have been walking at 7am each morning at a local park, and I am enjoying the brisk cool air we have been having. I am no longer huffing and puffing in the heat, trying to get up the hills on the path. Watching the changes around us as we walk has been one of the best parts of my day.
When Larry Hurley sent the article with the Joe Pye Weed, I laughed because what I thought was Joe Pye Weed was actually Swamp Weed. Who knew? I will just say they were in the distance and pinkish color. When I told Larry I was blowing the seeds from the seed pods, I got an education of the differences. Still, they were beautiful!
Fall is time to just take in deep breaths and clean out the cobwebs in your head and for me in my corners. Where did all these spiders come from anyway? Fall is the time for apple pie and pumpkins. It is time to decorate our porches and just be.
My wish for this season as I blow on the Swamp Weed is for you to enjoy the beautiful weather. Maybe sit on your porch or deck and read a good book? What is your favorite thing to do in the Fall? Send me a email, I would love to hear from you.
