What are your favorite gardening places to visit?
Since Behnkes closed the only shop that even comes close is Valley View Farms. Other garden centers just don’t have the quality and variety.
I love going to Valley View Farms. Have you tried the other direction and checked out Merrifield Garden Centers in VA? I know it is a drive but it really is well worth it. But what about places like Brookside Gardens just to visit. Do you ever just go to gardens to wander around? I love to go to Longwood Gardens. I am hoping to go this Spring as I have never been in the Spring.
I love Longwood gardens and try to go at least a couple of times per year. A friend maintains a membership and her interest has gotten me to make the trip more often. Their Christmas display was just amazing (Fire and Ice). We will be going up for the orchid show, of course!
Chanticleer is next on my list of favorite places. Longwood is very traditional design and Chanticleer is much more my style of controlled chaos. Their artisans are amazing. I can go just to look at their benches and railings!
Where ever plants are displayed to sell, I look! Merrifield is worth crossing the bridge!
Carol when is the orchid show at Longwood? Also, if I wanted to see the most in the Spring, when would you advise making the trip there?
The orchid show is now until end of March, I think.
There is always something blooming about now until the season ends
