Happy Thanksgiving
Out here in Wisconsin we have a lot of wild turkeys. Here is part of a group of a dozen well-fed wild turkeys at my sister-in-law Nancy’s bird feeder in central Wisconsin. We see them regularly here in Madison as well, strutting across the street, or at the Arboretum and on the University campus. You’ll find them in pretty much any wooded area. Although they are native to the state, they were more-or-less extinct here until they were successfully reintroduced in the 1970’s. Like deer, they are popular with hunters but can be a nuisance when they move into town. Since they rarely pass through my yard, I still get excited when I see them when I’m out for a walk in the woods.
