Grayson and I also spent quite a bit of time together in the kitchen this week. During supper preparation yesterday, he kept popping into the kitchen to check on me and ask if I needed his help with anything. We made kale chips yesterday afternoon which turned out surprisingly tasty.
Coming from an international family certainly has its perks. While there are downfalls- distance, expense, and necessity for preparedness and fore-thought, having an excuse to jet to England is never a bad situation.
My little grandson, Aaron, really enjoyed his “snow day” with his mom the other day! The first snowman that he actually helped with from start to finish was an exercise in imagination.
With the holidays coming quickly to an end, our life is slowly returning to normal. We’ve spent most of the recent weeks renovating the hallways and our living room. As I may have mentioned in months passed, everything in our home was adorned in at least two layers of antique but also severely water-damaged wallpaper; including the ceilings.

This week we checked on the leaves and they were crisp and dry; ready for the next play date adventure. As a child, I remember making wax paper place mats with my mother from pressed flowers and leaves.
Some of the staff at Behnke Nurseries thought it would be interesting for me to share one of my latest crafts and how-to-instructions. Some of my favorite crafting creations have come from unusual and unexpected inspiration.
This past weekend, my husband and I took a road trip. Been a long time but it all came back to me how much fun it is to find treasures. I ended up with a great wash tub that I think might make a fairy garden this Spring.
Well, I felt adventurous this week. Amongst many other mini adventures, my main excitement came from foraging in the backyard. I spent a little time scouring the trees, plants and grass for potential crafting materials while Grayson tortured wildflowers and swung around big sticks.
This week was the beginning of Fall. A time of cool nights, football, chili and of course decorating with all the colors of Autumn. Today I noticed the first leaves changing which for me means time to get my porch ready.
