Larry Hurley shared with me his nephew’s NEW Etsy site and a little about him and what he is doing. To say I was impressed is to put it lightly. His photography is fantastic. Talent runs in their family in different ways. Larry, with his knowledge of plants and way with words, and Kevin’s way of showing places I have never been before but now feel I need to see. As I scrolled through each of these photographs, one of my favorites was the one of Mt Rainier reflecting on Aurora Lake.  Enjoy ~Stephanie

NaturescapesPhotoArt is an Etsy shop launched at the end of 2022. It’s a big departure from my life-long career as a commercial photographer! I’m Kevin McGowan, and I got my start in the film days, spending four decades helping businesses tell their stories through carefully crafted photographs. Although daunting, I embraced the chaotic transition of the film-to-digital revolution, now relishing the technology that helps me create images never possible with film. I can photograph the natural world from a bird’s perspective with my drone, stitch together panoramic landscapes from multiple images and even capture the Milky Way and Northern Lights when it’s so dark I can’t even see my feet! I am blessed to live with my wife in Tacoma, Washington, a few hours from glacier-laden mountains, the Pacific Ocean and more wilderness than I’ll ever have time to photograph- but I’ll give it my best shot!

Stephanie Fleming

Stephanie Fleming was raised at Behnke’s Nurseries in Beltsville. Her Mom, Sonja, was one of Albert & Rose Behnke’s four children. She was weeding from the moment she could walk and hiding as soon as she was old enough to run, so many weeds, so little time. Although she quickly learned how to pull out a perennial and get taken off of weed pulling duty.
