October, the Best Month of the Year

October, the best month of the year! At least according to my husband. Besides having his birthday in October, he has always felt that the weather and all the Fall colors we see make it a wonderful month. I have to say, for the most part, I agree with him. I love the colors, plus all the events going on everywhere! AND we are just getting that much closer to my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving.
Family Updates and New Adventures
September seemed to fly by so fast with so many things going on. It was a month of changes in our family as my son started a new position as the Executive Director of the Columbia Center of Theatrical Arts. This non-profit has always been something near and dear to him, back to his high school days when he would perform in the Young Columbians. All our grandchildren are now in school, and wow, are they ever growing up so fast. Our little Robert, who will be seven this month, is now in first grade and LOVES his teacher. His little sister is in preschool, as her mother works at an Elementary School. Our daughter, Jaimie, ‘s children, Aaron and Zoe, are all playing Fall ball, which we are really enjoying. As the saying goes, Life Is Good!
Life Is Good (and Busy!)
I, on the other hand, am still here, with my big calendar sitting out on our dining room table, so I can keep track of everything that is going on. As I mentioned before, I am starting to slow down some things, including Beyond Behnke’s. It has been over 6 years since we closed our beloved garden center, and when I began this rebranding, I had so many ideas of what I thought it could be. It turned out to be different, but still something I will always treasure. Keeping Behnke’s alive and in some of our hearts, even if only a little, has made me incredibly happy.
Looking Ahead with Beyond Behnke’s
As the next few months approach, I will continue to participate in a few craft shows (see below) while I work on clearing out some of my inventory. My plan for now is to keep doing this email once a month.
Enjoying Fall at Local Garden Centers
I hope you’re all enjoying this beautiful weather and visiting your local independent garden centers. I am going to check out Snell’s Greenhouses for some garden mums and then head up to Thanksgiving Farms for some of their fun fall decorations!
