We’ve been in the same home since 1984. When we bought the house it was on a heavily wooded lot, and over the years I’ve filled it up with shade-loving shrubs and perennials, some of which are actually still alive.

I’m a heuchera fan. When I began in horticulture, there were just a handful of named cultivars of this perennial available, all with green leaves, featuring spikes of red, white or pink flowers. Times have changed.
As we wake up to another 4th of July, I hope that you are able to take some extra time to walk through your garden or a park somewhere. Maybe you’re going home to Mom’s or Grandma’s? Take a peak at what is going on in their garden.
Rain has been variable over the last few weeks, with rain often passing either to the north or south of us. As a result, my neighborhood in the Rockville Bethesda area is actually getting pretty dry.
I love auctions. Always have and I guess I always will. That said, I am not sure how I will feel about this coming auction here at Behnke’s.
Behnke Nurseries is going to be having a public auction on Sunday, July 21, 2019 on site. We will have tools, vehicles, office supplies, furniture and all the cool fixtures we have used for decorating the nursery.
I do want everyone to know, we will be keeping our website, blog and social media going. We will be writing about different independent garden centers and continue to give you great information about your garden.
