Meet Peggy Riccio of Peg Plant

Peg Plant
Every now and then, you happen to meet someone you just know you want to get to know better. That happened a few weeks ago at the Maryland Spring Home & Garden Show when Peggy Riccio of Peg Plants stopped by my booth.

While chatting about what else, Behnke Nurseries and memories, I learned that Peggy is a garden writer, among many other things that you can read about on her website. Her site has one of the best resources on what is going on in the gardening world month by month that I wanted to share with you. Peg Plant is a free monthly e-newsletter about gardening in the DC metro area. Each issue lists local gardening events, recently published books, tips, articles, recipes and a giveaway. I have been enjoying reading some of her articles about growing herbs.

I hope you take some time to check out her Monthly Events Page! Who knew so much was going on? I invited Peggy to be our May guest on Beyond Behnke’s Gardening PodCast  in May. We will discuss growing culinary herbs here in the DC metro area.

Stephanie Fleming was raised at Behnke’s Nurseries in Beltsville. Her Mom, Sonja, was one of Albert & Rose Behnke’s four children. She was weeding from the moment she could walk and hiding as soon as she was old enough to run, so many weeds, so little time. Although she quickly learned how to pull out a perennial and get taken off of weed pulling duty.
