Stephanie’s New for 2022!

Beyond Behnkes Gardening Podcast

New For 2022!

Whew! What a week this has been. I have some exciting news to share with you. For the past year, my son, Steven, has been urging me to jump into the world of Podcasts. So finally, after a lot of encouragement, I said okay.

Yup, Stephanie will be sharing a new podcast on the first Thursday of each month. I recorded my first episode last week and can’t wait to share it with you. Hopefully, I did not ramble too much.

I have to say, once I got going chatting with my guest, it was great but setting up all the equipment my son got for me to record almost defeated me. Luckily we did a test run a few days before the real deal, and he talked me through the whole thing. I had no idea that hooking up microphones would be so difficult. After that, I did a test session with my daughter-in-law, Amy, about her time working and traveling the world with Disney.

Why Podcasts?

One of the main reasons I was not sure about doing a podcast was that I am not a gardening expert. I have problems pronouncing all those Latin names, much less remembering details about different plants. I am good with annuals, but the rest, well, let’s say, it’s a good thing Behnke’s had so many experts on staff that never seem to mind answering all my questions.

However, I love plants, local independent garden centers, and people. Still, I asked myself, why would anyone want to hear what I have to say? I guess time will tell and if you enjoy what you hear, please help get the word out to your friends and families.

I plan to chat with people that know what they are talking about when it comes to gardening. I will also talk to owners of companies where Behnke’s used to purchase different supplies we sold. Every company has a story, and I think you will find some of them are interesting. I can’t wait to share them with you.

So stay tuned. Make sure you read the February 3rd email where all the details will be on finding my first ‘The Beyond Behnke Gardening Podcast.’

Stephanie Fleming was raised at Behnke’s Nurseries in Beltsville. Her Mom, Sonja, was one of Albert & Rose Behnke’s four children. She was weeding from the moment she could walk and hiding as soon as she was old enough to run, so many weeds, so little time. Although she quickly learned how to pull out a perennial and get taken off of weed pulling duty.
