Christmas ~ 12 Days Away

I just looked at the calendar and was surprised! Only 12 more days to Christmas! For some reason, the season has snuck up on me. I’m unsure how it happened since I am selling Christmas Joy all year with our ornaments, but I thought I had much more time to prepare. I always have all my gifts ready and wrapped by now.

Tomorrow, I will go into the Christmas Closet and start pulling out all the gifts I have bought for my grandchildren all year. Gosh, I hope I got something for each of them. Well, more than just one thing. I read somewhere that we should give our kids three things if we can. Something they need. SOCKS!! Something to read. I bought some books from a book fair last September and something they want! There is the problem. I never got the LIST!!!

While at the craft shows these last few months, I typically never have time to look around and buy gifts because I am by myself. But last weekend at the WONDERFUL Kris Kringle Christmas Market in La Plata, our former IT Goddess, one of Behnke’s Best, came and helped me for the entire three days! While she was there, I was able to get 3 of the grands these cool dragon-type critters made by a 3-D printer! So, at least I have that. Our little Elizabeth will almost be one year old, and I know I have her covered! I just need to find everything.

For my kids… well, I keep telling them there won’t be a lot of gifts under the tree for them—just the grandchildren. I keep getting eye rolls, and “ya sure, Mom,” replies. Won’t they be surprised? I only hope I don’t have a case of guilt and run out and buy things they do not need.

At least my tree is up, thanks to my husband and granddaughter. Next year, I will get more into the spirit of the season. Oh, heck, who am I kidding? I love Christmas; it will be fine. Now, where is my wrapping paper? Didn’t I hear there was a big sale at the mall? And I better set some butter out to start making some cookies. And I still need to fill the stockings! At least I ordered the Country Ham for my husband.
