Scenes from a Garden Party

Thanks, garden clubs, Master Gardeners, vendors and customers, for a fabulous day!

Above left, Leslie McDermott represented Brookside Gardens at the party, and was reeeeeealy happy to learn that our raffle resulted in a donation of $1,682 to Brookside to continue its good works and beautiful garden.  Upper right, Sandy McDougall of Sandy’s Plants admired our filing cabinet display of her plants, in matching purple.  Other revelers included Carole Galati with a friend, and the Four Seasons Garden Club’s Jim Dronenberg.

Above, three great clubs – Takoma and  Hyattsville Horticulture Clubs and the American Begonia Society – plus Barbara Glickman with copies of her book about Washington gardens – Capital Splendor.

Above, Natalie Brewer with her awesome wildlife photographs, plus members of the National Capital Cactus and Succulent Society, the Baltimore African Violet and Gesneriad Club and the Potomac Hosta Club.

And the Master Gardeners were out in force!  Both Montgomery and Prince George’s County groups were on hand to give advice and maybe enlist some new members.  Also shown are some wonderful hand-made birdhouses and the pottery of Hansa Jacob-Martin.

Three more clubs are shown here – the Beltsville Garden Club, the Metropolitan Garden Club and the Potomac Rose Society –  with the team from Walpole Woodworkers.

Stephanie Fleming was raised at Behnke’s Nurseries in Beltsville. Her Mom, Sonja, was one of Albert & Rose Behnke’s four children. She was weeding from the moment she could walk and hiding as soon as she was old enough to run, so many weeds, so little time. Although she quickly learned how to pull out a perennial and get taken off of weed pulling duty.
