Welcome 2016…

Stephanie-and-Aaron

I wonder how many of you, like me, received a Fitbit for Christmas? I had a smaller one that fit on my belt and have had pedometers in the past, but there is something about this new Fitbit on my wrist that has me checking it during the day and getting up for those few more steps.

We are told that ten thousand steps a day is a good goal to strive for.  I watch some of the folks at the nursery and think that they go past ten thousands steps easily.  Me, not so much.  So far this new year I have hit my goal just twice but I am determined to increase that.  I think with the nice weather we have been having (even with the cold) this is a doable goal. Now I am not saying this is my New Year’s resolution; I have given up on those since I never seem to keep the hard ones.  But, simple steps I can do. I am thinking of walks with my grandson, walks with my mother and maybe even walks around the nursery during my break. Getting out and helping my husband in the garden this coming season instead of just pointing out what I would like done should help me make my numbers.  Now I just need to figure out how this whole thing works with my smart phone and what this sleep pattern tracking actually means and I will be set.

Stephanie Fleming, Behnke’s Vice President

Stephanie Fleming was raised at Behnke’s Nurseries in Beltsville. Her Mom, Sonja, was one of Albert & Rose Behnke’s four children. She was weeding from the moment she could walk and hiding as soon as she was old enough to run, so many weeds, so little time. Although she quickly learned how to pull out a perennial and get taken off of weed pulling duty.
