Christmas Already?

Christmas Already? No, not quite, but it is time to think about your outdoor Holiday decorations. Do you really want to put them up again this year? Then have to take them all down sometime in January? In the cold? Maybe you have a new home and want to put some lights up, but you are unsure where to start? Or, like my husband, only started putting up lights when our grandchildren started arriving 8 years ago. Now our tree is too tall for our ladder. I recommend calling our friends Pete and Walter from Zabrine Scapes.

Pete and I were chatting the other day as they completed a Fall yard clean up. He mentioned to me that they do both residential and commercial holiday lighting. The earlier, the better to contact them to find out what you are looking for and get you on the schedule. Besides putting the lights up, they will purchase everything you need or use what you already have up in your attic. Once up, they will come back in January to take down your lights neatly and ready for the next year. They can also store all your decorations if that is something you might be interested in.

I am not sure about you, but the thought of someone else taking care of all of this for us is a win-win. I don’t have to watch my husband try to get those strings of lights up so high, and I don’t have to hold that ladder, hoping he does not fall down. Maybe I will talk to Walter about putting lights on our house. I have always wanted that, but the tree was enough for us to get done. Now I need to decide what color? I love multi-colored lights, which we have on our tree, but maybe it is time for a change. Nope! I think I will stick to all the multi ones. I also have a fence that would look great with lights and maybe some wreaths.

Stephanie Fleming was raised at Behnke’s Nurseries in Beltsville. Her Mom, Sonja, was one of Albert & Rose Behnke’s four children. She was weeding from the moment she could walk and hiding as soon as she was old enough to run, so many weeds, so little time.
