Great Bunch of Crafters

Behnkes once again loved hosting local crafters at our Craft Fair last Saturday in Beltsville.  Here are a few of them, and click here to see more crafts and crafters on our Facebook page.

Nancy Clifford wrote Except for a Mouse when she was just 11 years old, and now it’s published!  From her author bio on Amazon:  “This story I wrote 40 years ago is an accomplishment. I want children to know that their accomplishments, no matter how small, are of value. Surround yourself with positive people. Always work hard and believe in yourself.”  Next up for Nancy, a close neighbor and long-time customer of Behnke – more holiday books.  Great, so we’ll be seeing Nancy at our next Craft Fair signing her second book.

What child – or adult, for that matter – wouldn’t love these hand-made wooden toys? His sign assures us that they’re all “child-friendly” and “child-safe” but also for “children at all ages.”

This crafter is a genius at recycling – turning hydrangeas into wreaths that hold their color for years and wine bottle corks into trays.

Stephanie Fleming was raised at Behnke’s Nurseries in Beltsville. Her Mom, Sonja, was one of Albert & Rose Behnke’s four children. She was weeding from the moment she could walk and hiding as soon as she was old enough to run, so many weeds, so little time. Although she quickly learned how to pull out a perennial and get taken off of weed pulling duty.

  1. I was unable to attend the craft fair. : ( It would be wonderful to have a list of the crafters with their websites so that others could order from them. Thanks!
